SuperVan

A HYPERCAR that identifies as a van? That’s pretty much how you could describe the Ford Pro Electric SuperVan concept, which made a dramatic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Thursday.

Loosely based on the E-Transit Custom van that was unveiled in Europe recently, the concept has been modified for track use. Powered by four electric motors that collectively produce 1471kW, the Supervan can sprint from 0-100km/h in under two seconds.

Called out

FORMULA ONE has condemned threetime World Champion Nelson Piquet for using racist language against Mercedes’ driver Lewis Hamilton in an interview while discussing his own win at last year’s British Grand Prix.

Piquet used a derogative term in Portuguese when referring to Hamilton on a Brazilian podcast in November, which has resurfaced in social media.

Formula One said this week that “discriminatory or racist language is unacceptable in any form and has no part in society”. It added: “Lewis is an incredible ambassador for our sport and deserves respect.” | IANS
