F1 concerns

FERRARI’S Carlos Sainz has raised questions about the long-term health implications of Formula One’s latest generation of cars. The Spaniard said he was feeling the pain of having to race with a stiffer suspension to counter the bouncing, or ‘porpoising’, that some teams are experiencing due to aerodynamic rules introduced this season.

Asked how the cars might handle around Monaco this weekend, Sainz called for a broader debate: “More than Monaco ... it’s how much of a toll a driver should be paying for his back and his health in a Formula One career with this kind of car philosophy?” | Reuters

New look

THE Honda CR-V is a solid and surprisingly practical contender in the midsize SUV space but, truth be told, it’s not very exciting to look at. That promises to change with the new-generation model that’s set to be unveiled soon. What you see here are the first teaser images of the new 2023 model, and they show a sharper and more sculpted look.

The rest of the details remain under wraps for now but Honda does speak of a more advanced drivetrain for the hybrid model, which is currently not sold in South Africa. Word on the street is that the current 1.5-litre turbopetrol engine option will carry over with some improvements and a bit more power. | IOL Motoring
