THE deadly attack in the Norwegian town of Kongsberg appears to be a terrorist act but it does not change the national threat picture, the Norwegian Police Security Service said this week.

“The threat level in Norway is still assessed as moderate,” it said.

On Wednesday evening, police detained a man for the bow-and-arrow attacks. Four women and one man were killed; all victims were between 50 and 70 years old.

Two more were wounded.

The 37-year-old Danish suspect living in Kongsberg is a Muslim convert and had been known to the police, who believed he had acted alone. |
