THE outgoing national commissioner of the department of correctional services, Arthur Fraser, admitted this week that he overruled the parole board to grant medical parole to former President Jacob Zuma, which came into effect on Sunday.

He said his decision was legal and he could provide documentation to anyone who wanted to know the process he had followed.

Zuma was serving a 15-month sentence for contempt of the Constitutional Court at Estcourt prison since July 8. The nature of his medical condition remains unknown. | Political Bureau
