Police seize heroin caps, arrest 5

IN A week of drug swoops, law enforcers have seized hundreds of heroin capsules – one consignment in the deep freeze of a 50-year-old woman arrested in Mariannhill.

She was also found with crack cocaine in addition to 401 blue and white heroin capsules, said SAPS spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele.

Their metro police colleagues, swooping on Chatsworth, Wentworth, Glenwood, Umbilo and Merebank, netted more than 700 capsules among other drugs and arrested five men.

The hauls included rocks of cocaine and crystal meth.

Capsules have become a popular way of packaging heroin because they are easily disguised as medicine.
